We’re nearing the end of 2018 and we’re grateful for another decent year in real estate, because no one can predict what will happen in our industry from year to year.
In Prince Rupert, 2018 brought projects including an expansion project for Ridley Terminals, the Phase 2B expansion for the Fairview Container Terminal, and a 3rd propane terminal project proposed by Volpak. The federal government announced they were injecting $21.9 million into our container port to improve its capacity. In October we had a municipal election. These are just a few news items from the past year.
In the way of recent news, there hasn’t been an abundance since our last newsletter. Some of the headlines have been focused on the cannabis sales zones. Perhaps by next month there will be some cannabis retailers open in downtown Prince Rupert.
On another note, it’s been a mild winter so far, but the snow is falling on Shames Mountain. Our family is eager to get some skiing in over the holiday season.
From our family to yours, we’d like to wish you a Merry Christmas and much happiness in 2019!
So far, 2018 hasn’t quite had the level of sales as 2017, however we’re still experiencing a healthy market. Thankfully Prince Rupert is not a “boom or bust” city, and this is reflected in our stats as we continue to move forward in a steady manner.

Preparing Your Home For Holiday Guests
The holiday season is officially upon us and with it, holiday guests! If you have taken it upon yourself to be the host for this year’s holiday season, now is the perfect time to start preparing your home for family and friends. Use these tips to guide you through getting your home guest-ready to ensure that your holiday hosting goes off without a hitch!
Make Room For A Happy Holiday
It can be hard to enjoy the company of family and friends when you are constantly bumping into one another. Be sure to thoroughly declutter the rooms that your guests will be mingling in before the big day. Depending on the number of guests you are expecting, you may have to rearrange your furniture to better accommodate your party.
Set The Holiday Mood For Your Guests
A little bit of tinsel and a few wreaths can go a long way towards bringing the holiday spirit into your home! Try spreading holiday decorations throughout your home to help your guests get into a holiday mood. Also, be sure to create a playlist of your favorite holiday tunes that can play in the background during your event. A few holiday classics are sure to set the perfect tone for your evening!
Prepare Easy To Eat Appetizers
Make sure you prepare enough snacks to keep your guests occupied while dinner cooks! When choosing which appetizers to provide, try to pick ones that won’t leave a mess on your guests’ hands and cause a handwashing lineup at your bathroom. If you are comfortable working in the kitchen, homemade appetizers are not only a great treat but also a fantastic conversation starter!
Here’s to wishing everyone a happy holiday and a fantastic New Year!
